I produced this simple promotional poster after my manager had half-heartedly attempted to utilize QR codes around his restaurant. He had simply printed off the code on blank, white paper and written a message with a pen beneath. I decided to give the marketing strategy a more professional look that is more likely to encourage customers to get connected with the restaurant.

Working to improve my family ranch in Gonzales Country, TX has provided me with an outdoor escape from my computer-based marketing internship with the Nature Conservancy this summer. I captured these photos in the evenings after completing my days work. Being out on the property each week has instilled in me a greater appreciation for all aspects of the land and I enjoyed capturing the simple beauties of the area with my camera.

After being told for countless years that my dad’s entire side of the family looks identical, I decided to put it to the test. After creating a photograph collage of my grandfather, dad, brother and myself using a Cannon Rebel and photoshopping them together, I found that the similarities were even more than I thought.

The following work is a final project that I completed for my Broadcast Writing class. Each week the professor would assign a new topic for the students to create a story and form a film around.

This particular assignment was centered around the London Blitz. I decided to do a short on a man writing a letter to his lost love moments before he is killed by a German bombing.

Welch’s juices have been around since 1869. It is a company that emphasizes passion by producing quality products through company owned family farms. The company embraces and emphasizes its long standing dedication by publicizing its values on their website.

Welch’s includes videos of their “grower-owners” who work the vineyards, which produce the grapes used to make Welch’s juices. This publicizes the company’s invested value in its employees. The fact that the company values the people that work for it reassures the public that its juice is coming from quality sources.

To further prove the freshness of their juices, Welch’s shot a video about how their grapes go “from the vine to bottle.” The video emphasizes the careful harvesting and transportation of the Concord grapes to the factory. This eyewitness presentation of the process for customers further reassures them that they are receiving a product that is not tampered with.

On top of these promotional videos, Welch’s recently awarded 100 schools across the country “farmer’s packages” which include tools, seed, and educational information to teach young children to plant, grow and harvest their own fruits and vegetable. The company is also sending some of its own “family-farmer owners” to select schools to talk to the kids.

This effort to educate children about growing and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables further credits the company’s public image. The effort delivers a message to parents that Welche’s truly cares about its customer base both young and old. It also shows that Welch’s not only cares about producing quality products but is also concerned with educating the future of the country about growing their own organic foods.

Dr. Pepper recently launched a promotional campaign that gets its brand name circulating as well as ties important values to the company’s reputation. With the launch of the company’s Million Dollar Tuition Campaign, values such as education and equality became linked to the brand.

The campaign itself awards scholarship-like money to both people striving to go to college who simply cannot afford it as well as those struggling to pay off student loans. The contestants are required to submit a short video on the company’s website detailing why they believe they are the best candidate to win. After the final judgments of the videos are made Dr. Pepper will award three grand prizes of $123,000, three runner up prizes of $23,000, and nine consultation prizes of $2,500.

This campaign not only sends out a concrete message that Dr. Pepper cares about its people and their education; it also gets people talking about the company and circulating the name in a positive fashion. As people make their videos to submit they get friends to help them out as well as tell friends about what they are trying to win. This further disseminates Dr. Pepper’s name and the quality values that the company is upholding.

Dr. Pepper is exhibiting Arthur W. Page’s PR principle of “listening to the customer.” The company is not only considering the needs of the people from a product standpoint but is going above and beyond by getting on the people’s level and understanding what they need in their lives through the outreach of the tuition campaign.

For our project we felt like the required project filters took away from the overall mood of the dance and weren’t necessary. However, my favorite filter that is available is the pond ripple video filter. I used this filter in a video I shot in high school as we zoomed out from a pool and focused in on a person jumping off of a diving board.

This project proved to be the most time consuming project thus far in our class and yet the most fun to complete. It was fulfilling to see the project through from pre-production to the final edit. I feel a lot more comfortable now with filming as well as with Final Cut Pro.
